February Happenings
Well February seems to have been swept under the rug without a web page. This should make up for that. I started February with a trip to Denver. This is the Denver Museum of Art. Later I picked up Gratia and we went to Vail where I had a meeting. |
| Between the meetings we had time to ski. We had some recent snow and bright bluebird days so the skiing was great. |
Gratia met up with a friend from Boise who now lives in Vail. She had a cousin from Germany there as well as some new friends. |
| We had four days of skiing so lots of these trail shots. This one is near Game Creek I think. |
The legendary back bowls of Vail. They were steep and a little crusty but they got us back to Blue Sky Basin that was great. |
| The Four Seasons hotel has a nice Haut Chocolate presentation. |
The server pours hot chocolate over a marshmallow and chocolate lace to make a very rich and tasty beverage. |
| One last shot before we go. |
On my drive back I hit a deer. My insurance agent should be wondering about me as I hit a wolf with my other car in January. |
| We were home for a couple days and celebrated Becky's birthday a day early with a party at Pizza Ranch. |
Pizza Ranch added a "Fun Zone" and the kids wanted to play. Grandma was happy to oblige. |
| They won enough tickets to get some tacky prizes including these teeth. |
Hard to tell but everyone is singing happy birthday. |
| Jax wanted to play some pool. |
Becky got to celebrate her actual birthday by flying to Alaska. She always considers seeing her grandchildren a great gift. |
| Andrew, Weston, Sloane and I skied at Alyeska for four days. |
One issue with Alyeska has been low light but this week we had lots of sunshine. Note the Turnagain Arm in the background is so calm it reflects the mountains like a mirror. |
| Weston has become quite a good skier. I can keep up with him mostly but I'm not sure how much longer that will be. He definitely is trying to kill me. Right after this shot he took me down "Horror Hill" a black diamond run. |
While we were away there was quite a bit of snow at home. This drift was higher than the snowblower so it took quite a few runs to get it cleared. |
| Same snow out the back door. |
